The DURASOL methodology

The methodology adopted for the DURASOL project is derived from the one proposed by the task 39 of the Solar Heating and Cooling Programme of the International Energy Agency (IEA) dealing with polymer materials for solar thermal applications.

It is based on three major steps. The DURASOL project goes beyond the conventional approach on product development by a deeper analysis at the material level of the degradation mechanism :

  1. Starting from the system analysis, the overall objective is defined and provides inputs for the component definition.
  2. Afterwards, the analysis is performed at the material level.
  3. A forward scheme is then adopted for developing the novel product and to evaluate the long-term performance at the system level.
